Bertha M. VanLoo, 86, formerly of
West 10th Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness
on Friday, Dec. 31, in Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa, Ind. Mrs.
Van Loo was born on March 15, 1913, in Wachtebeke, Belgium, as
the daughter of the late Cesar and Augusta (De Rocke) Van
Renterghem.
On July 27, 1932, in St. Bavo's Catholic
Church, Mishawaka, as Bertha Van Renterghem, she married
Maurice Van Loo, who survives along with a daughter, Nancy Boger
of Elkhart, Ind.; two grandchildren, Erik (Kim) Phelps and
Lisa Phelps. Mrs. Van Loo was preceded in death by a sister,
Martha Bonne. Bertha was employed by Uniroyal in Mishawaka
for 24 years before retiring in 1972. She was a member of St.
Bavo's Catholic Church in Mishawaka, the B-K Club Ladies
Auxiliary and a life member of St. Joseph Hospital Mishawaka
Ladies Auxiliary.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday,
Jan. 2, 2000, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 2:30 p.m. on Monday in St.
Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. James Shafer
officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens,
Osceola, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bavo's
