Violet Vanett, 78, of South Scott
Street, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002. Mrs. Vanett retired
in 1989 from Wells Electronics where she had been employed for 23
years. She was born on May 14, 1924, in Mayville, Wis., to Joseph
and Agnes Balaban.
On June 15, 1946, in South Bend, Ind., as
Violet Balaban, she married Dee Vanett, who died on Sept.
6, 1999. Violet was also preceded in death by her parents; two
sisters, Pauline Faltynsky and Angeline Oxley; and
by three brothers, Ely Balaban, Bogdon Balaban and Milan Balaban.
She is survived by a daughter, Marie (George) Gusich of
South Bend; two grandchildren, Richard Boits and Jordan
Gusich, both of Bloomington, Ind.; and by a sister, Mary McClusky
of Port Charlotte, Fla.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10
a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S.
Kemble Avenue. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial
Park, Granger, Ind. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6
to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home, where a prayer service will
be recited at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Sts.
Peter & Paul Serbian Orthodox Church.
