Mrs. Emiel VanDeWalle, aged 66, of 327 South Smith Street, died of a heart attack at 10 o’clock Sunday night in her home. She had been ill with influenza for nine days. Mrs. VanDeWalle was born July 4, 1872 in Belgium, and came here 47 years ago.
As Miss Virginia DeSpiegelaere she was married here 43 years ago to Mr. VanDeWalle, who survives. Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. William J. McGann of South Bend, seven sons, Achiel M., Alfred F. and Joseph H. VanDeWalle of South Bend, and Charles A., Hilary F., Albert and Raymond of this city, and a sister, Rosalie of Belgium.
Services took place Wednesday morning in St. Bavo’s Catholic Church, the Rev. Otto Keller officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery.
