SOUTH BEND - Carol Jean Van De Sample, 90, passed away on
Tuesday, January 5, 2010, in the Sanctuary at St. Joseph. Carol
was born on July 13, 1918, in Carrollton Twp., Carroll County,
IN, to the late Lora and Ada (Mcmanama) Overholser. On June 29,
1946, she married Charles VanDeSample, who preceded her in death
on February 10, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her
brother, Dean Becker, and her sister, Mary Sidenbender. She is
survived by her two sisters, Geraldine Bell and Margery Marks,
both of South Bend; and by her brothers, Buddy Overholser of
Bremen and Lora (Lois) Overholser Jr. of South Bend;
sister-in-law; and by many nieces and nephews. Carol moved with
her family to South Bend in 1927 where she attended Riley High
School. She enjoyed sports, especially bowling. Carol retired
from Bendix in 1974. Family and friends may gather from noon to 1
p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2010, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME,
824 S. Mayflower Road, where a funeral liturgy will be celebrated
at 1 p.m. Burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden, Osceola.

Heart Association of Northern Indiana, 6100 W. 96th St.,
