Mrs. August (Marie) VanderHeyden: (South Bend Tribune 9/17/1979)
Mrs. Marie VanderHeyden, 76, of 2605 Western, died at 4 p.m.
Saturday in Memorial Hospital, after an extended illness. She was
born on July 13, 1903, in South Bend, and lived here all her
life. On Sept. 3, 1928, in South Bend, she married August
VanderHeyden, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Paul of
South Bend; two grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Blanche Odor,
Mrs. Jane Klimek, Mrs. Sophie Cherpes and Mrs. Josephine Varga,
all of South Bend; and two brothers, Edmund Nowicki of
Indianapolis and Casimier Nowicki of Marion, Ind. Services will
be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Rev.
Dennis Blank, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the St.
Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today in the St.
Joseph Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be recited at
7:30 p.m. today. She was an auxiliary member of Pulaski Post 357,
American Legion, and a charter member of Valeria A. Zell
Auxiliary 146.
