August VanderHayden, 84, of Healthwin Hospital, died there at 9 p.m. Sunday. Mr. VanderHayden retired in 1963 from Studebaker Corp. He was born July 5, 1902, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. On Sept. 3, 1928, in South Bend, he married Marie Nowicki. She died in 1979. He is survived by a son, Paul of South Bend; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Funeral Home, where the parish rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
