SOUTH BEND - John L. Vanderbosch, 67, of Ft. Myers, FL, formerly of South Bend, died Wednesday, June 20 as a result of injuries sustained in a hit and run accident.

He was born May 7, 1940, to John and Margaret (Bickel) Vanderbosch who preceded him in death. He was a lifetime resident of the South Bend area and had recently moved to Ft. Myers. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School and retired from the University of Notre Dame. He served in the Naval Reserves in high school and briefly served in the US Navy, until his mother passed away. He was a former member of the German Township Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his five children, Margaret (Kevin) Lynch of North Liberty, John (Lisa) Vanderbosch of Ft. Myers, Debbie (Mark) Obren of Mishawaka, Teresa Vanderbosch of Denver, Kathy (George) Kennach of South Bend; 12 grandchildren, Evan, Mathew, and Kelsey Gorzkiewicz, Erin and Chad Vanderbosch, Kevin and Sarah Obren, Lynette, Rita, George, Alex and Wallace Kennach, two step-grandchildren, Kevin and Meghan Lynch and a step- great-grandchild Keeghan Lynch.

He loved his many fishing trips with his buddies and his son but he most enjoyed spending time with his family. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. They meant the world to him. He was deeply loved by his family and will be missed. We take comfort in knowing he is finally reunited with his parents and look forward to seeing them again in heaven.

Friends and family may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27 at Palmer Funeral home located at 2528 Mishawaka Ave. Services will be held Thursday, June 28 at 10 a.m. in Little Flower Catholic Church located at 54191 N.
