Donald Oscar Vanderbosch

Donald Oscar Vanderbosch, 60, of South Bend, Ind., passed away at 2 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. Donald was born on Jan. 30, 1945, in South Bend, to Gerald and Anna Mary (Harris) Vanderbosch, who both preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was a nephew, Christopher Vanderbosch. Donald had lived in South Bend for the last seven years, coming from Boca Raton, Fla. He was employed as a special deputy with the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department for five years.

 

On May 12, 2001, in Holy Family Church, he married Irene Kuspa Gorski, who survives. Also surviving are three stepdaughters, Elizabeth A. Gorski, Randi L. (Kent) Downhour and Danielle Kalb, all of South Bend; one stepson, Brian M. (Debra) Gorski of South Bend; seven grandchildren, Aaron Gorski, Shelley Gorski, Troy Gorski, Slade Gorski, Jacob Gorski, Sarah Downhour and Corey Downhour; one sister, Jeanne (Johann) Luxom of Las Vegas, N.V.; one brother, James (Susan) Vanderbosch of Boca Raton; and one niece, Johanna (Roger) Schnirring of Columbus, Ohio.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, in Holy Family Church. Military services will be conducted immediately following the Mass. Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. today, Feb. 23, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Donald was a member of Holy Family Church, and served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War.
