MISHAWAKA - Ethel M. VanDePutte, 86, of South Main Street, died at 3:45 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Hospital after an illness. Mrs. VanDePutte retired from Uniroyal in 1955. She was born Dec. 1, 1907, in Mentone, living here most of her life.

On June 1, 1926, in Mishawaka, as Ethel Shoemaker, she married Oscar VanDePutte. He survives with a sister, Edna Graves of Mishawaka; a brother, Earl Shoemaker of Brasstown, N.C.; and three nieces and one nephew.

She was a member of St. Bavo's Church, its altar society and Mishawaka Women's Democratic Club. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Hahn Funeral Home, where a wake will be at 3:30 p.m.
