MISHAWAKA - Cyril A. Van Den Driessche, 79, passed away on
Tuesday, June 10, 2008, in Hospice House, South Bend. Cyril was
born on October 29, 1928, in Mishawaka, to Felix and Pharilda (DePyper)
Van Den Driessche. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a
brother, Henry.
On May 27, 1950, in Mishawaka, he married
the former Mary DeNeve, who survives along with a
daughter, Julie (J. Michael) Smith of Plainfield, IN; son,
Steve (Natasha) Van Den Driessche of Elkhart; five grandchildren,
Steven and Matthew Van Den Driessche, Nicole and Katelyn Smith,
and Anna Lypka; and two sisters, Leona Van De Voorde
of Dubuque, IA, and Elsie Leitner of Osceola, IN. Cyril
was a retired Assistant Chief with the Mishawaka Fire Department.
He was a veteran of the United States Marines, where he served
his country proudly during the Korean War. He was a member of St.
Bavo Catholic Church and the BK Club. He was also a member of
Mishawaka Retired Policeman and Fireman Association, and a past
member of FOE and American Legion.
Visitation for family and friends will be on
Friday, June 13th, from 3 to 7 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W.
8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on
Saturday, June 14th, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Bavo Catholic Church,
Mishawaka, with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will
follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Memorial
contributions may be made in Cyril's name to The Center for
Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN
46637; or to St. Bavo Catholic Church, 511 W. 7th Street,
Mishawaka, IN 46544.
