Charles H. Van De Keere, 81, of Elm Road, Mishawaka, Ind., died after an illness at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, in his residence. Mr. Van De Keere was born on March 24, 1916, in South Bend, Ind., as the son of the late Julius and Emma (Matthys) Van De Keere. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, August and Henry Van De Keere.
On May 3, 1947, in Lakeville, Ind., he married Margaret Kotal, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Beverly (David) Pullman of Chicago, Ill., and Shirley (Michael) Barrientos of Woodridge, Ill.; a son, James Van De Keere of LaPorte, Ind.; five grandchildren, Laura, David and Diana Barrientos, Christopher and Alex Pullman; a sister, Mary DeMetz of Mishawaka; and by three brothers, Joseph of Bremen, Ind., Raymond of Mishawaka and Frank Van De Keere of LaGrange, Ind.
Mr. Van De Keere worked for C.C. Kelly & Sons for 42 years, retiring in 1988.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday in St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. James Shafer officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. Eighth Street, Mishawaka. A Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bavo's Catholic Church.
