Ruth E. Vance

March 6, 1900 – January 24, 1988

Services for Ruth E. Vance, 87, of Orlando FL, formerly of Mishawaka, who died about 3:40pm Sunday in the Orlando Regional Medical Center after an illness, will be at 10am Saturday in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, First United Methodist Church.  Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.

Friends may call from 7 to 9pm Friday in Hahn Ballard Funeral Home, 118 S. Mill St.

Mrs. Vance was born March 6, 1900, in Elkhart, and spent most of her life in this area, moving to Florida in 1972.  On October 7, 1923, in Mishawaka, as Ruth E. Stark, she married Ralph J. Vance.  He died May 26, 1978.  Survivors include a son, Rev. George C. Vance of Lima OH; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.  A daughter, Dorothy Hunterman, died in October 1977.  Mrs. Vance was a member of the Builders Class of First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, a former president of the Goodwill auxiliary and the Civic Planning Organization.  She also was a member of the Mishawaka Garden Club and the St Joseph County Council of Churches.
