CHARLES VANATTA
  Charles Vanatta, 47, of 23695 Fillmore Rd., was pronounced dead on
arrival at 6:40 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital.  He was brought there
in a private ambulance after suffering an apparent heart attack in his
home.  He had been ill three months.  Born in Milford, Ill., on April
26, 1915, he came here as a boy.  In 1941, he married Lurea M. Thomas,
who survives.  He had been employed at the Bendix Corp. for the past
22 years.  Besides his widow, he is survived by two sons, Charles
Daniel and James Robert, both at home; a daughter, Mrs. Richard B.
Graham, of North Liberty; three granddaughters, two sisters, Mrs.
Hazel Fellner, of South Bned, and Mrs. Archie Doud, of Monticello,
Ind., and a brother, Paul of South Bend.  Friends may call after 7
p.m. today at the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home.  Services will be at
1:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home and burial will be in Mt.
Pleasant Cemetery.  Mr. Vanatta was a veteran of World War II.
