Mildred B. Vagnone, 83, residing on West Washington Avenue, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, in the Saint Joseph Care Center-West, South Bend. She retired in 1982 as executive secretary following 20 years of service with Connecticut Natural Gas.

Mrs. Vagnone was born on April 1, 1920, in Stamford, Conn., to Vito and Guidetta (Summa) Bochicchio. She had resided in South Bend for the past 14 years, coming from Florida.

On Oct. 26, 1943, in Stamford, she married Luigi Vagnone, who preceded her in death on April 17, 1973. Mrs. Vagnone is survived by her daughter, Donna (Ed) Carroll of Granger, Ind.; her son, Don (Alison) Vagnone of Riverside, Conn.; eight grandchildren, Shane Carroll, Scott Carroll, Adrienne Cox, Danielle Vagnone, Ashley Vagnone, Peter Vagnone, Lindsay Vagnone and Natalie Vagnone; seven great-grandchildren; and by four sisters, Mae Chimblo of Texas, Katherine Pitera of Fort Pierce, Fla., Vera Amalfitano of Old Greenwich, Conn., and Alba Stamm of Sun City, Ariz.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, in St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, Riverside, Conn. Burial will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Darien, Conn.
