Paul Joseph "PJ" Vanden Bossche

September 22, 1925-February 10, 2006

Paul Joseph "PJ" Vanden Bossche, 80, residing in South Bend, IN passed away at 1:07 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2006, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.  He was born on September 22, 1925, in Mishawaka, to the late Maurice Raymond and Palmyra Cornelia (Remery) Vanden Bossche.  On October 15, 1949, in South Bend, he married the former Winifred L. Mell.

Along with his wife of fifty-six years, he is survived by a daughter, Micheline Vanden Bossche (Gary Waliszewski) of Bethesda, MD; three sons, Dennis (Sharon) Vanden Bossche of Mishawaka, IN. Craig (Jami) Vanden Bossche of North Liberty and David Vanden Bossche of South Bend; five grandchildren, Cody, Kate, Melissa and Devin Vanden Bossche, Mia Waliszewski; three great-grandchildren, two brothers, Father John Vanden Bossche of Mountain View, CA and Michael (Sandy) Vanden Bossche of Rochester, IN.  He is also survived by several nieces & nephews and by his extended scouting family.  His parents and a brother, William Vanden Bossche, preceded him in death.

Mr. Vanden Bossche was a lifelong resident, worked for Studebaker's and retired from Allied Signal in South Bend as a quality engineer in the Aero Space division.  He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943-1946. 

He was a member of the Northern Hoop and the White Bear Society.  He was also a member of the St. Matthew Cathedral.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2006, in St. Matthew Cathedral, 1701 Miami, South Bend.  Rev. Michael Heinz will officiate.  Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2006, in Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend where a parish rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.

It's PJ and the family's wishes that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Wood Lake Scout Reservation, Camp Tamarack, c/o LaSalle Council Boy Scouts, 1433 Northside Blvd., South Bend, IN 46615 in memory of PJ Vanden Bossche.
