SOUTH BEND - William A. Ullery, 69, passed away at 8:40
p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend
after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Ullery was born on
August 10, 1938, in South Bend, to the late Arthur W. and Lottie
(Walzak) Ullery. He was a lifelong resident of South Bend.
On August 31, 1963, in South Bend, he
married the former Theresa J. Golupski. Along with his
wife, Theresa, of 44 years, survivors include one daughter, Diane
Gavros of South Bend; one son, Arthur W. (Norma) Ullery of Reed
Point, Montana; four grandchildren, Christopher M. Gavros,
Tiffany M. Gavros, Jessica Ullery, and William A. Ullery; and one
sister, Shirley (Wayne) Shafer of South Bend. One brother,
Robert Ullery, preceded him in death. Mr. Ullery retired from
South Bend Freight, where he worked as a mechanic. He was active
with Bowler's Country Club, where he served as president and
vice-president and was also a former board member. He was an avid
bowler and enjoyed wildlife and nature. Mr. Ullery was a graduate
of Riley High School and served his country with the United
States Army.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on
Monday, April 7, in Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S.
Michigan Street, South Bend. Rev. Greg Crump will officiate.
Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery,
South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 6 p.m. on
Sunday, April 6 in the funeral home. The family would like to
thank Dr. Ansari for his exceptional care and compassion.
