Otto B. Ullery, Jr., 73, of
Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 8:30 a.m. on
Monday, March 1, in his daughter's residence. Otto was born on
April 5, 1925, in South Bend, Ind., to the late Otto B. and
Elizabeth (Lower) Ullery. On Sept. 4, 1943, Otto married
the former Dorothy L. Huff, who preceded him in death on Aug. 6,
1984. He was also preceded in death by a son, Donald Ullery on
Aug. 18, 1997; a grandson, Michael Masso; two sisters,
Juanita "Red" Burk and Willneta
"Blondie" Hunt; and by three brothers, Robert,
Harold and John Ullery. He is survived by two daughters, Patricia
(Stephen) Vargo, III, of Mishawaka and Barbara (Joseph)
Masso of Glassboro, N.J.; nine grandchildren, Stephen (Denise)
Vargo, III, and James (Renee) Vargo of Mishawaka, Timothy Vargo
of Osceola, Ind., Robert (Debbie) Vargo of Granger, Ind., Dianna
(Michael) Slowinski, Joseph (Daniella) Masso, and Nicholas
(Barbara) Masso, all of New Jersey; Lance and Shaw Ullery of
South Bend; 14 great- grandchildren, Dustin, Tiffany, Christian,
Heather, Alex and Jill Vargo, Ryan Perry, Michael, III,
Alexandra, Anthony, Savannah, Siearra and Angelo Masso, and
Matthew Slowinski; three sisters, Alberta Smith of
Mishawaka, Geraldine Englehart and Hazel Hamilton
of Elkhart, Ind.; and by a brother, Duane Ullery of Mishawaka.
Otto had retired from Kordell Industries and then Real Services
in South Bend.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
