Gloria "June" Ullery, 78,
of South Bend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family
Wednesday, Oct. 5, in her residence following an extended
illness. Gloria "June" was born July 27, 1927, in South
Bend to Anton and Nora (Mast) Stebner and was a
lifetime area resident. She was preceded in death by her parents
and an infant daughter, Mara Lee.
On May 1, 1948, in South Bend, June married
James J. "Jack" Ullery who survives. She is also
survived by two daughters, Tara Oberlander of Three
Rivers, Mich., and Robin (Michael) Johnson of Eagle River,
Alaska; three sons, Kevin (Sharon) Ullery, Kelly (Carrie) Ullery,
and Todd (Becky) Ullery, all of South Bend; 10 grandchildren,
Randy Stinnett, Tammy Johnston, Jimmy Stinnett, Nora
Johnson, Wes Johnson, twins Kyle and Travis Ullery, Erik Ullery,
Kalon Ullery and Kollin Ullery; great-grandchildren, Nathan,
Evan, Jaden, Jayme, Jenifer, and Jaleah; two sisters, Donna Geesaman
of South Bend and Joy (Max) Dinius of Aurora, Colo.;
two nieces, Cheri Lynn and Peggy Furr; and two
nephews, Tim and Dennis Dinius.
Mrs. Ullery was a graduate of Plymouth High
School and the former Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She
retired as a registered nurse after years of working for Dr.
Selby and Dr. Holdeman. She also worked for Liberty Mutual
Insurance Co., and volunteered many hours for community nursing
and caring for friends and family. She was a longtime member of
Lydick United Methodist Church.
June liked to collect things such as
depression glass, dolls, stamps and antiques of different nature.
Her other interests were the Cubs, playing cards and bowling. But
most of all her favorite pastime was cooking for all her family
during gatherings and holidays. The family would like to thank
all close friends for their prayers and support through this
difficult time, for she is truly at peace now and has been called
home to the Lord.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 10 in Lydick United Methodist Church with Rev.
Jennfier Johns-Gooding officiating. The family will receive
friends following the service until 3 p.m. in the church. In lieu
of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care
Hospice, 310 W. McKinley Ave., Mishawaka, IN 46545. Welsheimer
Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., is handling
arrangements.
