Winifred May Udy, 70, residing on
Mulberry Road, South Bend, Ind., passed away on Sunday morning,
Dec. 17, in her home. Mrs. Udy was born on Feb. 8, 1930, in
Lakeville, Ind., as the daughter of the late Estle Orland and
Gladys Emma (Seals) Updike, and had been a lifelong
resident of this area. In 1948, in South Bend, as Winifred
Updike, she married Chester Leo Kominowski, who passed
away on Sept. 14, 1968. Then on Oct. 27, 1973, in South Bend, she
married Raymond E. Udy, who preceded her in death on Aug. 30,
1980. She is survived by two daughters, Janice Scott of
Fairbanks, Alaska, and Clara Norris of North Liberty,
Ind.; three sons, Estle Kominowski of San Francisco, Calif., Fred
Kominowski of New Carlisle, Ind., and Leon Kominowski of South
Bend; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and by
three sisters, Elberta Bergl of Lakeville, Elizabeth Davis
of Culver, Ind., and Virginia Gunlock of LaPaz, Ind.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21, in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Lakeville. Rev. Thomas King, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Lakeville. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 South Michigan Street, Lakeville, where a parish Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Udy may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, Cincinnati Burns Institute, 3229 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45229-3095.
