Sister Rita Mary Turecek CSC, 87, of St. Mary’s Convent, died this morning in St. Joseph Medical Center, South Bend. She was born June 14, 1906 in Fresno, Calif. as Mary Catherine Turecek, and lived at St. Mary’s Convent since 1987. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on June 19, 1931; was received as a novice Jan. 6, 1932; and professed her vows Jan. 6, 1934. She was a music teacher at schools in California, Idaho, Nevada and Utah.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of Loretto, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, both at St. Mary’s Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday in the church, where a wake will be at 7 p.m.
