James R. Turecek

MISHAWAKA - James R. Turecek, 85, passed away Monday, June
16, 2008, in his home. James was born on June 6, 1923, in
Indianapolis, IN, as the son of Joseph and Clara (Adams)
Turecek. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter,
Linda Arndt in 1993; a sister, Lucy Swalla of
Mishawaka; and two grandchildren.
On September 16, 1950, in Merrillville, IN,
he married the former Yvonne Miller. Surviving are his
loving wife of 57 years, Yvonne; two daughters, Mary Ann (Robert
L.) Campbell of Zionsville, IN, and Leslie Merritt
of Zionsville, IN; eight grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. James moved to Mishawaka in 1961, coming
from Milroy, IN. He was a United States Navy veteran, and had
served his country proudly during WWII and the Korean War. James
was a pharmacist at Hooks Drugs for 27 years before he retired in
1987. He was a 45-year member of Coalbush United Methodist
Church, Mishawaka, the American Legion, and Penn High School
Boosters where he was a past board of directors member. James was
also a member of the Eagles in Shelbyville, IN, and a member of
the St. Joseph County Pharmaceutical Association.
Visitation for family and friends will be
held from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 19th, in the Hahn Funeral
Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held
at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 20th, with visitation one hour
prior in Coalbush United Methodist Church, Mishawaka, with Rev.
Jim Davidson officiating. Burial will be with a 2:00 p.m.
graveside service at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Corydon, IN, on
Saturday, June 21st. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions
may be made in James' name to Coalbush United Methodist Church
15977 Jackson Road, Mishawaka, IN 46544.
