Tschida, John A.
John A. Tschida, 74, of 1401 W. Indiana Avenue., died at 9 p.m.
Monday in St. Joseph's Hospital after an extended illness. Mr.
Tschida was born on March 4, 1892, in South Bend, residing in the
area all his life. On April 12, 1921, he married Mary K.
Steinhofer, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, William
J., and Arthur M., both of South Bend, and George L., of LaPorte;
two daughters, Mrs. Margaret M. Wartha and Mrs. Dorothy K. Van
Paris, both of South Bend; 10 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs.
Martha Kurz, South Bend. He had been a wood finisher at Singer
Manufacturing Co. for many years. A veteran of World War I, he
was a member of Post 272, American Legion, and the St. Stephen's
Society and Men of Assumption Society of St. Mary of the
Assumption Church. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the
Zahoran Funeral Home. Requiem mass will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday in
St. Mary of the Assumption Church where blessing services will be
at 10 a.m. Thursday, Rev. Martin Horvath, pastor will officiate.
Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. The rosary will be
recited at 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

TSCHIDA - Services for John A. Tschida, 1401 W. Indiana Ave., who
died Monday, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's of the
Assumption Church and burial will be in Highland Cemetery. The
rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today in the Zahoran Funeral
Home by members of the Daughters of Isabella, Notre Dame Circle,
and at 9 by Rev. Martin Horvath. Pallbearers will be Carl J.
Griman, Louis J. Kurz, Richard A. Langel, Emery Reiner, John C.
Steinhofer and Martin Steinhofer.
