John Tschida. John Tschida, of the
Whitman Nursing Home, 1145 Napier St., died there at 645 p.m.
Monday after an illness of eight years. He was born in Pamhagen, Burgenland,
Austria, March 10, 1878, and came here from Austria in 1889. His
wife, Anna, died in South Bend in 1924. Mr. Tschida was formerly
employed by the Singer Manufacturing Co. Surviving are two
daughters, Mrs. Helen Nemeth, of Jackson, Michigan, and Mrs.
Elizabeth Fisher, of South Bend; three sons, Leo and Robert, both
of South Bend, and Michael, of Salem, Ore.; a sister, Mrs. Martha
Wartha, and a brother, Frank, both of South Bend. Friends may
call after 7 p.m. today in the Nemeth Funeral Home. Funeral
services will be held at 9 a.m., Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic
Church with Rev. John J. Margraf, C.S.C., pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Father Margraf will lead
the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
