Shirley Jane Trovatore, 69, of Grand Blvd., Mishawaka, passed away at 6:35 a.m. on Thursday, April 26, in St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka. Shirley was born on Aug. 6, 1931 in Argos, Indiana to the late Kenneth J. and Evelyn Eloise (Spencer) Gard, Sr. Shirley retired from the Kroger Company after 35 years of service where she was a head cashier. She was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 700 and an associate member of the F.O.P. Lodge 155.

She is survived by two sons, John Kenneth Trovatore of Janesville, Calif., and Jimmy Joseph Trovatore of South Bend; two adopted sons, John Martino of Deer Park, N.Y. and Johnny Villanueva of Mishawaka; two granddaughters, Tara and Amber Trovatore, and grandson, Jimmy Joseph Trovatore, a step-grandson, Philip Hall; a sister, Suzan Gabaree of Rochester, IN; and five brothers, Kenneth Gard of South Bend, Duane Guard of New Orleans, LA, Jim, Jack, and Bill Gard of Kansas City, KS. A Brother, Bob Gard preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 29 in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka. Services will be in the funeral home on Monday, April 30, with Fr. Robert A. Yast officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
