Julia Troiola

Julia Troiola, 88, of Marion Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after a lengthy illness at 8:50 a.m. on Mon-day, Oct. 2, in her home. Julia was born on Sept. 27, 1912, in Toluca, Ill., to the late Saverio and Rosina (Batistelle) Troiola. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary; and by three brothers, Ernaldo (Rin), David and James.

She is survived by two nieces, Joni Madou of Mishawaka and Julia Marie Troiola of Boulder City, Nev.; a nephew, Wayne Troiola of Mishawaka; and by two great- nieces and two great-nephews.

Julia was a member of St. Monica Church, Mishawaka, and its Rosary Society. She served on the church's parish council several times, and was a driving force in organizing the church's 75th anniversary celebration in 1990. Anyone who was fortunate to visit St. Monica during the holiday seasons was able to witness her beautiful decorating touch in the church which she took upon herself to do for many years. She also spent many years as a member of the Questers. Julia first worked at Ball Band in Mishawaka, attaining the position of treasurer ( a first for a woman in those days). She then worked for the Chicago Motor Club before finally becoming office manager then secretary-treasurer at the Garvey Pattern Company in South Bend before her retirement.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4, in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5, in St. Monica Church. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Monica Church or to Hospice of St. Joseph County. A special thanks to those who unselfishly helped with Julia's care the past several months: Mitzi, Steve, Verleen, Lenda, Missy, and her niece Joni. God has a special place in His heart for you.
