Carol J. Troeger

Carol J. Troeger, 89, of Harbour Town Court in Granger, IN, where she lived with her daughter and her family, passed away at 10:46 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2005 in Hospice House. Formerly, she lived on Beverly Place in South Bend.

 

She was born July 18, 1916, to the late George W. and Esther (Grundmann) Brown in Detroit, MI, and had lived in the South Bend area most of her life. Along with her parents; she was preceded in death by one sister, Muriel Kemp; and one brother, Wilmott Brown.

 

Mrs. Troeger retired as a registered nurse in 1981 from Allied Products after six years of employment. Previous to that, she worked as a registered nurse at Studebaker Corporation for 19 years; Pawating Hospital; Osteopathic Hospital; and at Miles Laboratory in Elkhart for three years.

 

On July 20, 1940, as Carol J. Brown, she married Andrew J. Troeger in South Bend, IN. He died in August 1970.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Sue (husband Philip) Panzica of Granger, IN; her son, Andrew J. Troeger, Jr. of Mishawaka, IN; six grandchildren, Chris Troeger and his wife Carrie of Mishawaka, IN; David Troeger of Chicago, IL; Julie Troeger Slunaker and her husband Bobbie of Lafayette, IN; Todd Panzica of Granger, IN; Nicholas Panzica of Granger, IN; Julie Panzica of Granger, IN; and one great granddaughter, Cara Troeger.

 

Mrs. Troeger was a former member of Sunnyside Presbyterian Church; and a Graduate of Grace Hospital in Detroit, MI, where she earned her Registered Nursing Degree. She enjoyed living and fishing at Clear Lake in Three Rivers, MI. She dearly loved her grandchildren and helped care for and raise them.

 

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p..m Monday, October 3, 2005 in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2005 in Kaniewski Funeral Home, with Pastor Charles E. Husted officiating.

 

Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.

 

Carol's family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637, for their wonderful long term care of Carol.

 

They wish that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to hospice.
