A head-on crash claimed the lives of a
17-year-old Bremen boy and his 8-year-old sister Monday, when
their minivan collided with an RV on U.S. 6 just west of King
Road.
According to Sgt. Trent Smith of the Indiana
State Police, Zane Triplet, 17, was driving a 2000 Chrysler
minivan east on the highway shortly before 1 p.m. when it was
involved in a near-head-on collision with a new Jayco motorhome
headed west on U.S. 6, driven by Hazel Grant, 62, of Kokomo.
"The RV was heading to Virginia for a
show," Smith said. For an unknown reason, Triplet's vehicle
drifted into the westbound lane and collided with the motorhome,
according to Smith.
The impact destroyed the entire driver's
side of Triplet's minivan, and caused the RV and a small car it
was towing to careen into a corn field on the south side of the
road. Smith said that Zoie Triplet, 8, was pronounced dead at the
scene, while Zane Triplet was transported to Community Hospital
of Bremen before he was also pronounced dead.
