SOUTH BEND - Steve D. Treber Sr., 90, of South Bend,
passed away at 12:05 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, in the Ironwood
Health and Rehabilitation Center. Steve was born on July 4, 1916,
in South Bend, to the late Kalman and Ethel (Vida) Treber.
He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Sandra, on
February 11, 2007, and by his three brothers.
On June 4, 1947, he married Gertrude L. Coker
in South Bend. She survives along with their two sons, Robert
(Carol) Treber of Fort Wayne, IN, and Steve (Brenda) Treber of
Mishawaka; three grandchildren, Steven, Cathleen and Kevin; six
great-grandchildren; and by his sister, Irene Sailer of
Texas. Steve was a member of the American Legion, Bowler's
Country Club and Eagles Lodge 435. He worked for Studebaker for
24 years before working at Allied Stamping from which he retired
after 21 years.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today,
June 1, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road,
South Bend. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on
Saturday, June 2, in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at
Resurrection Gardens in the St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
