Osceola - Mary Viola Townsend, 80, of Morehead City, N.C., formerly of Osceola, died at 5 a.m. Friday in her home after a brief illness.

She had retired from Uniroyal.

Born May 27, 1905 in LaGrange County, Ind., she had lived in Osceola before moving to Morehead City three years ago.

She married Warren Townsend, who died May 16, 1976.

Surviving are a son Richard of Rock Island, Ill.; and two grandsons.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Warner Funeral Home.

Internment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Friens may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Mrs. Townsend was a member of the Osceola United Methodist Church.
