John Steven Toth

Feb. 9, 1911 - June 26, 1999

South Bend Tribune 7/2/1999

John Steven Toth, 88, of Mishawaka, Ind., passed away in his sleep on Saturday, June 26th, after a lengthy illness. He was born on Feb. 9, 1911, in South Bend, Ind., of Hungarian parents. He was a lifelong resident of Mishawaka.

In 1941 he married Genevieve Hartig. They had one son, Jon David Toth, who preceded him in death in April of this year. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Genevieve, who passed away in November 1997. Mr. Toth was employed by Bendix and by the Studebaker Corporation, and played an integral role in the construction of fighter planes for the U.S. government during World War II. He later began his own successful business as a violin repairman, and was much respected by the local musical community. He was himself an accomplished violinist and performed as a member of various local orchestras. He was also an inventor and had several patents accredited to his name.

There will be no services held. Mr. Toth wished to be cremated and his ashes strewn along with those of his wife and son upon the garden of his home, which he built himself. He is survived by three grandchildren, Anna and David of Maine, and Andrew of The Netherlands. Grandpa was very much loved and his death closes the circle of a loving and talented family that enriched the lives of all those who knew them. The family wishes that no flowers be sent. The Bubb Funeral Chapel North is handling arrangements.
