MISHAWAKA - Private memorial services have
been held in loving memory of Geni Toth, who died in her
home after a long illness on Nov. 4, 1997. She was born in
Chicago, Ill., on March 14, 1912, to Arthur and Emma Hartig.
She moved to Osceola, Ind., at an early age.
She was married in 1941 to John S. Toth and
moved to Mariellen Street, Mishawaka, Ind. He survives along with
a son, Jon David Toth, also of Mishawaka; and by three
grandchildren, Ana Toth and David Toth of Bar Harbor, Me., and
Andrew Toth of The Netherlands. She was preceded in death by two
sisters and a brother, Beatrice Zimmerman, Kathryn Proudfit
and Donald Hartig. A graduate of Ball State University, she
taught art in the Penn-Harris-Madison and Misha-waka Schools from
1958 to 1975.
Her art has been reproduced on note paper
and greeting cards by H.G. Caspari, Inc., of New York, and her
paintings are hanging in many public and private collections
throughout the United States. She was a charter member of the
Northern Indiana Artists and the St. Joseph Watercolor Society.
She was a member of miniature societies of New Jersey, Florida
and Washington, D.C. She received recognition by the grant of a
lifetime membership in the Whiskey Paints of America for her
''talent and ability through contributions in the arts.'' Geni
will be missed by her family, her artist and teacher friends,
former students who were in close contact with her, and her many
nieces and nephews
