Andrew J. Tompkins: (South Bend Tribune 6/22/1964)

Andrew J. Tompkins, 62, of 526 S. Liberty St., died at 4:03 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital of a heart attack. He was an employee of the O’Brien Corp. Born on Nov. 7, 1901 in South Bend, he married Helen Wieczorek, who survives, on Jan. 15, 1935 in St. Casimir’s Catholic Church. Also surviving are a son Richard Tompkins, South Bend; a grandchild; three brothers, Walter, Bert and Frank and two sisters Mrs. Mary Michalski and Miss Sophie Tompkins, all of South Bend. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Tuesday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home. Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church with Very Rev. Msgr. Ignatius J. Gapczynski, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
