Edward Tomczak: (South Bend Tribune 5/25/2000)

Feb. 25, 1927 – May 23, 2000 Edward Tomczak, 73, of Lake Lane, South Bend, Ind., died at 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, in Memorial Hospital. He was born on Feb 25, 1927 in South Bend, to the late Louis and Ann (Trudzinski) Tomczak. He was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Tomczak was a self-employed carpenter for 20 years, and retired in 1990 from Van Overberghe Builders as a finish carpenter. On July 3, 1948, in South Bend, he married Alice Nowicki, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Thomas (Janet) Tomczak of South Bend; a daughter, Susan (Todd) Fisher of South Bend; four grandchildren, Troy and Todd Tomczak, and Danielle and Kimberly Fisher, all of South Bend; and by a sister, Betty (Jerry) Vascil of Granger, Ind. Mr. Tomczak was a member of Carpenters Union Local #413 and of Holy Family Catholic Church. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday in the ST.JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, in Holy Family Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
