SOUTH BEND - James Walter Tomaszewski,
87, of Monte Vista Drive, Granger, Ind., formerly of South Olive
St., South Bend, passed away at 7:55 a.m. Sunday, July 14, in
Holy Cross Care & Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Tomaszewski was
a former employee of the Studebaker Corporation and retired as a
truck driver for St. Joseph County. He was born on Nov. 18, 1908
in Wolka-Obrowska, Russia and had lived most of his life in South
Bend since coming from Russia.
On Oct. 3, 1936, in South Bend, he married
the former Lottie M. Sabaj, who survives. Also surviving
is a daughter, Dolores Chudzicki with whom he made his home; a
son, James Tomas, Evansville, Ind.; and five
granddaughters, Sharon Marietta, Mishawaka, Ind., Brenda
Chudzicki and Laura Chudzicki both of Granger Ind., Jennifer
Tomas, Evansville, Ind., and Jamie Tomas, Bloomington, Ind.; two
great-grandchildren, Lance Marietta and Cara Marietta both of
Mishawaka; one sister, Carrie Bykowski, South Bend, Ind.;
and three brothers, Nicholas Tomaszewski, John Tomaszewski, and
Alex Tomaszewski, all of South Bend, Ind.
Funeral arrangements are being made by
Kaniewski Funeral Homes, 3545 North Bendix Drive, South Bend,
Ind. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Adalbert's
Catholic Church. Rev. Daryl Rybicki, officiating. Burial will
follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from one hour
before services on Wednesday at St. Adalbert's Church.
