Howard Thornton

Howard Thornton, 89 of Eastgate Circle Mishawaka, passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Monday June 17, 1996 at Countryside Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Mishawaka. Mr. Thornton was born in Toledo, Ohio on Feb. 7, 1909 and resided most of his life in Mishawaka.

He is survived by his wife Ruth (Sager) Thornton who he married on January 25, 1936 in Mishawaka, Ind. Also surviving is a daughter, Donna McDowell of Indianapolis, Ind., a son, John Thornton of Mishawaka, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Thornton was the President and Treasurer of Rohleder-Thornton Insurance and Real Estate Inc. of Mishawaka and retired in 1972 after 50 years. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Mishawaka, a 1931 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, and attended Twin Branch Bible Church of Mishawaka.

There will be no formal services or visitation for Mr. Thornton. Cremation will take place and burial will be at Fairview Cemetery with Hahn Funeral Homes, 505 W. 8th St. Mishawaka, handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Twin Branch Bible Church of Mishawaka.
