SOUTH BEND - Adolph W. Thornburgh, 90, of South Bend, IN,
passed away at 3:00 a.m. Sunday, July 20, 2008, in Lakeland
Community Hospital, Niles, MI. Adolph was born on November 28,
1917, in Toledo, OH, to Orin Kossuth and Emma (Seubert)
Thornburgh. He retired as a route driver for the former Torino
Baking Company in Chicago, IL. Survivors include his two
daughters, Lynda (Charles) Nix and Evelyn Cole,
both of Buchanan, MI; one son, Mark (Linda) Thornburgh of South
Bend, IN; six grandchildren, Stephanie and Joseph Thornburgh,
Ronald and Orin Cole, Sarah and Andrew Nix. Preceding him in
death were his wife of twenty-five years, Jean; his second wife,
Ann; his sister, Evelyn Heck; and his brother, Kenneth
Thornburgh.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Thursday, July 24, 2008, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N.
Bendix Drive. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends
may call from 2 until 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
Adolph enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He attained the rank of
Eagle Scout and had worked in the construction of the Alaskan
Highway. Memorial contributions may be made to the National
Wildlife Federation.
