On June 30, 1951, the former Ms. Greenwood was united in marriage to Mr. Robert G. Thompson at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Mishawaka, Indiana. Bob survives along with their daughter, Jean Marie Thompson of Osceola. Other survivors include Sr. Mary R. Thompson, SSMN, of Buffalo, New York, Mr. James E. Denny of Oro Valley, Arizona, and Mrs. Thelma O. Strasser-Greenwood of South Bend, Indiana.

In Winnie's memory, a memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date. Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola is handling arrangements.

Winnie was a graduate of Riley High School, class of 1936, and attended the Indiana University Extension in South Bend. She went on to become a secretary for the School City of South Bend and later worked part time for Mishawaka Schools and the Ball-Band factory in Mishawaka. After marriage, Winnie became a homemaker and was active in local politics and the P.T.A. Later she would go on to receive a George Award from the Mishawaka Enterprise Record. In her spare time, Winnie enjoyed ballroom dancing with her husband, and writing calligraphy, which led her to assist the town of Osceola and their Historical Society. She and her husband Bob were charter members of the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka. Donations in her memory may be made to the Leukemia Society.
