MISHAWAKA - Opal W. Thompson, 79, of
East Omer Street, died at 9 a.m. Friday in Countryside Place.
Mrs. Thompson was born Aug. 18, 1914, in LaPaz, and was a
lifelong area resident.
On Oct. 5, 1946, in South Bend, as Opal W. Redman,
she married Robert H. Thompson Sr. He survives, with three
daughters, Mary Jane Kretchmer of Mishawaka, Bobbie June Cummins
of Kewanna, and Carol Moore of Milford; a son, Robert H.
Jr. of Greensboro, S.C.; 19 grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; a sister, Beatrice Marshall of
Martin, Mich.; and a brother, Joseph Redman of South Bend. Two
daughters, Betty Lou Weaver and June K. Thompson, preceded
her in death. She was a member of First Church of God.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Chapel
Hill Funeral Home, Osceola. Burial will be in Chapel Hill
Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to
8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be
made to Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association, 70
