GRANGER - Miriam M. Thompson, 89, died Friday in Memorial
Hospital, South Bend. She is survived by her husband of 66 years,
Gene Thompson of Granger; sons, David Thompson of Tacoma, WA, and
William Thompson of Lakeville, IN; daughters, Susan Jones
of Bloomington, IN, and Janet Leazenby of South Bend; nine
grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, JoAnn Booth
of Norwich, ME.
When her children were young, Miriam gave
much of her time to youth activities including Bluebirds,
Campfire Girls, Indian Guides and Cub Scouts. Later she devoted
her efforts to volunteer service such as cancer sewing and the
Budget Corner. She was a lifelong member of First United
Methodist church. Throughout her life she enjoyed nature painting
and tending her beautiful flowers.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m.
Tuesday, Feb. 5, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North,
17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend, with Pastor Mary Hubbard
officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park,
Granger.
