SOUTH BEND - Mr. Johnnie Lee Thompson, 65, a resident of South
Bend, Indiana, departed from this life at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday,
February 16, 2010. He was born to the union of Roosevelt and
Lillie Mae Thompson in Tilla, Arkansas, on April 7, 1944. Coming
from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he moved to South Bend in 1970 Mr.
Thompson was owner and operator of his own trucking business for
ten years. He also worked as a truck driver for Spartan Express,
Viking Express and for Mastics Siding as a machine operator. His
favorite pastimes were fishing, boating and driving. He also was
a former member of Paradise Missionary Baptist Church under the
late Reverend Bill Adams and an honorary member of Mt. Carmel
Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of Reverend
Rickardo Taylor Sr. Family members who survive to cherish his
memory include his wife, Earthie (Utsey) Thompson; three
children, Theodis (Janice) Thompson of Fordyce, Arkansas, James
(Corrine) Thompson I and Georgiana (Kevin) Carter, both of South
Bend; 12 grandchildren, Johnathan, Constance (Marvin), Johnna
Rae, James II, Cierra, Kevin, Myra, Tevin, Tia, Theodis Jr.,
Tanesha and Tyreka; three great-grandchildren; three sisters,
Helen (Tim) Robinson of Omaha, Nebraska, Dorothy Lloyd of
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Catherine Hamilton of Pine Bluff,
Arkansas; three brothers, Nehemiah Thompson and Lester
(Geraldine) Thompson, both of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and Carvin
Thompson of Grady, Arkansas; along with a host of other relatives
and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Thompson will be held at
1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 25, 2010, in Alford's Mortuary where
arrangements have been entrusted. Interment will follow at
Highland Cemetery. Messages of condolence may be e-mailed to
