Fred Thompson

MISHAWAKA - Fred Thompson, 69, of Mishawaka, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Monday, March 10, in his residence. Fred was born June 1, 1938, in Passaic, New Jersey, to the late Fred and Marion (Hemingway) Thompson. Fred is survived by three sons, Wayne (Diane) Thompson of South Bend, Scott (Carol) Thompson of Mishawaka and Chris (Laurie) Thompson of South Bend; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Fred proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Fred worked as a supervisor at the U.S. Postal Service in South Bend, retiring in 1992. He was also a member of the South Bend Radio Control Club.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 15, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend, with Rev. James Campbell officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home. Cremation will take place at Welsheimer Crematory. In Fred's memory, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 601 W. Edison Road, South Bend, IN 46545.
