Mr. Benjamin F. Thompson, 66, dear husband, father, grandfather and brother of South Notre Dame Avenue, departed this life on Monday, Dec. 3, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. On Jan. 17, 1935, Benjamin was born to the union of Turrell and Adella (Williams) Thompson in Luxora, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by four brothers.

Benjamin was a resident of South Bend, Ind., for 35 years, coming from Chicago, Ill. He was a cook at several restaurants.

He married Jean Lake in South Bend. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Jean; six daughters, Rochelle Thompson and Joanne (Bishop Vaughn) Elliott of Warren, Ohio, Angela Thompson, Melanie Smith, Jennifer Thompson, Jacqueline Thompson and stepdaughter, Ruthie Stewart, all of South Bend; three sons, Gregory (Deborah) Thompson, Kenneth Thompson and Joel Thompson, all of Marion, Ohio; 26 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Beulah Stephens of Chicago; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, in Alford's Mortuary. Family visitation will be one-half hour before the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary .
