Larue Clarence Thomas, 42, who
resided on West Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Ind., died on
Monday, Oct. 2, as the result of a train accident. He was born on
Nov. 18, 1957, in Chicago, Ill., to Gloria Christine Thomas and
Fred L. Chester Sr. He was preceded in death by his
mother, Gloria Chester; and by a sister, Mary Chester.
He and Shirley Quinn were united in
wedlock on Jan. 26, 1985, in Memphis, Tenn. Coming from
Rochester, Ind., he relocated to South Bend six years ago, was
employed by the Batteast Construction Company, and was a member
of the union. Larue was honorably discharged from the United
States Army after serving from 1975-1978. Loving family members
who survive include his wife, Shirley; a daughter, Tewana Thomas
of Memphis; his father, Fred L. Chester Sr. of South Bend;
maternal grandfather, Winfield Thomas of Chicago; two sisters,
Minnie (William) Howell-Bey and Sonia (Daniel) Newbill;
and three brothers, Joseph Thomas, Fred (Bea) Chester Jr. and
Ester (Pam) Chester, all of South Bend; along with other
relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on
Saturday in Alford's Mortuary. Interment will follow at Highland
Cemetery.
