Phyllis Y. Thielka, 63, of Hamilton
Street, Granger, Ind., passed away at 8:45 p.m. Monday, in her
residence, after an illness. Mrs. Thielka was born in South Bend
on Sept. 11, 1932 and has been a lifetime area resident.
On June 21, 1951, in South Bend, as Phyllis
Y. Strunk, she married Richard J. Thielka Sr., who passed
away on Oct. 9, 1977. Surviving are three daughters, Teri L. Miller
of Nappanee, Gayle A. Schweisberger of Granger, and Lori
E. Thielka of Mishawaka, Ind.; four sons, Richard J. Thielka, Jr.
of South Bend, Randel A. Thielka of Elkhart, Ind., Kent E.
Thielka of Mishawaka and Christopher of South Bend; 16
grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Betty Hughes
of Dickenson, Texas, Jeanine Weidner of Granger and
Geraldine Bonine of Bristol, Ind. A son, Kenneth P.
Thielka preceded her in death in 1955, and her brother, Richard Darr
also preceded her in death.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m.,
Thursday, in the Prince of Peace Church of The Brethren in South
Bend. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m., today, at Bubb Funeral
Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Burial will be in St.
Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger.
Mrs. Thielka was a member of the Prince of
Peace Church of The Brethren, and she was active in the Womens
Fellowship of the Church. She was also active in the Girl Scouts
of America and volunteered at the Homeless Shelter. She was
formerly employed at Holy Cross Shared Services of South Bend.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to St. Joseph
County Hospice.
