MISHAWAKA - Carl J. Theede, 75, of
Alabama Street, died at 9:10 p.m. Friday in his home of an
illness. Mr. Theede retired from Uniroyal in 1980 after 21 years
of service. He was born June 2, 1918, in Schleswig-Holstein,
Germany, and moved to Mishawaka in 1923.
On Nov. 12, 1956, in LaGrange, he married
Suzanne DeVliegher. She survives with a son, Carl Michael
of Frankfort, Ind.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren;
four sisters, Ann Granat of Whittier, Calif., Frieda Slisz
of Mishawaka, and Dorothy Torshey and Hertha Forslund,
both of South Bend; and a brother, Fritz of Mishawaka. Mr. Theede
was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post 360 and South Bend/Mishawaka Homing Pigeons Club. He
was an Army veteran of World War II.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in
Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home. Burial will be in Chapel Hill
Memorial Gardens, Osceola, where military services will be
conducted by VFW Post 360. Friends may call two hours before
services Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may
be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County or the church.
