July 24, 1913 - Sept. 19, 1994 - Granger, Verdon Albert THARP, 81
of Timberland Drive, died at 3:10 a.m. Monday in Fountainview
Terrace, Mishawaka, after an illness. Mr. THARP retired as a
computer and maintenance foreman for DuPont Corp. He was born
July 24, 1913, in Pokagon, Mich., and lived in Granger for 18
years. His first wife, Bertha (TONER) THARP, died in 1975. He is
survived by his second wife, W. Jean THARP of Granger; a
stepdaughter, Maxine HALL of South Bend; a stepson, Richard
ALTMAN of Los Angeles; four stepgrandhchildren; five
step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marjorie GARRARD of
Mishawaka, Anna AKIN of Niles, and Ellen GILLETT of Harvard,
Ill.; and three brothers, Milton of South Bend, Frank of Niles,
and Edmund of Elkhart. He was a veteran of the Army. Services
will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Harris Prairie church of Christ.
Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends
may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Bubb Funeral Chapel North,
3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka.
