SOUTH BEND – Master Sgt. Gerard Raymond Templeton, 73, of 23206 U.S. 20 W., died at 9:40 a.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's Medical Center after an illness. Mr. Templeton retired in 1973 as a master sergeant in the Army after 31 years of service. He was born Oct. 16, 1920, in West Hartford, Conn., and lived in South Bend most of his life.

In South Bend, he married Margot Hein. She survives with two sons, Glenn of Osceola and Klaus of South Bend; and five grandchildren. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

Services were held at 1 p.m. today in Kaniewski Funeral Home. Burial was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
