SOUTH BEND - Jane Etta Temple, 81, of Willowbrook Drive in
South Bend, passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, January 22,
2008, at the Milton Home in South Bend, Indiana. Jane was born
September 2, 1926, in Osceola, Indiana, to Cleland and Mildred (Breden)
Stoddard.
On March 3, 1943, the former Ms. Stoddard
was united in marriage to Mr. Walter H. Temple Sr. Walter
preceded her in death, passing away in 1981. Surviving are her
children, Walter H. Temple Jr. of Union, Michigan, and Ted (Teri)
Temple of South Bend, Cheri (Gary) Mortimer of Burbank,
California, and Shelley "Fawn" (Art) Poock of
Flowery Branch, Georgia. Jane is also survived by her brother,
Lyle (Rose) Stoddard of Buffalo, OK; and four sisters, Lois Sommerville
of Elkhart, Deloris "Dee" Ciesialka and Ruth Bilinski
of South Bend, and Norma (Gary) Modlin of White Pigeon,
Michigan. Surviving as well are 10 grandchildren and 14
great-grandchildren. Preceding Jane in death were her brothers,
Daniel, Cleland "Pal" Jr. and Raymond Stoddard, and her
sisters, Geraldine Walker and Opal Fleck.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00
p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2008, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home,
10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be
conducted by Reverend Larry Baker at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January
28, 2008, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, with interment to
follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Mrs. Temple was
employed for 30 years as the head cook at Saint Joseph Regional
Medical Center in South Bend before her retirement. She was also
a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in South Bend.
