She possessed a gentle strength and loving
kindness. Her angelic voice reassured us that all would be well. Vernator
Taylor, 50, of Fleetwood Lane, South Bend, Ind., passed away
at 8:05 a.m. in Parkersville, W. Va., following an auto accident.
She was born to the union of Vernator and Samuel Austin,
Sr., on Nov. 17, 1946, in South Bend. She was a 1966 graduate of
Central High School. She attended Ball State University for two
years, Bethel College and Charles Harrison Mason Bible College.
On Oct. 4, 1969, she was united in Holy
Matrimony to Carl Taylor in South Bend. Leaving to cherish her
memory is her husband, Carl Taylor, her son, Brantley Carl Taylor
and her mother, Mrs. Vernator Austin, all of South Bend; five
sisters, Estella Burrell of Dayton, Ohio, Betty Berry of
Los Angeles, Calif., Barbara (Percy) Jones, Debra (Rev.
Richard) Jennings, and Geraldine Cheaton, all of
South Bend; three brothers, Samuel (Clara) Austin, Jr., of South
Bend, George (Margaret) Austin of Stone Mountain, Ga., Elder
William (Janathan) Austin of Grand Rapids, Mich. She was preceded
in death by her father, Samuel Austin, Sr., on Jan. 5, 1990, and
by her son on Oct. 29, 1994.
Funeral services will be held at Saints
Memorial Church of God in Christ where she was an aspiring
Missionary, a Vocation Bible School teacher, a member of Les
Lueurs Educational Committee, Young Women's Christian Council,
Women in Touch, Links, and two volunteer services, Gus Mackers,
Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Burial will follow at Highland
Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 pm. today at Alford's
Mortuary.
