SOUTH BEND - Vera Tamandli, 87, of
Locust Road, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 6:10 p.m. on
Thursday, March 12, in the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation
Center. Mrs. Tamandli retired in 1981 from the University of
Notre Dame where she was employed for 23 years. She was born on
March 25, 1910, in South Bend, to Thomas and Vera Arch,
who preceded her in death. In April 1926, in South Bend, as Vera
Arch, she married John (Dewey) Tamandli, who died on April 11,
1980. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and
Charles Arch. She is survived by a daughter, Viola (Joseph) Herczeg
of South Bend; two grandchildren, Linda (Randy) Murowski
of Lakeville, Ind., and John (Cari) Herczeg of South Bend; two
great-grandchildren, Ashley Herczeg and John Herczeg; two
sisters, Theresa (John) Pallo of Cape Coral, Fla., and
Agnes (Ernest) Laskowski of South Bend; and by three
brothers, John (Katherine) Arch and Steve (Angela) Arch, both of
South Bend, and Alex Arch of Alaska.
There will be no visitation or services. The Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, handled the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Our Lady of Hungary Church repair fund.
